I have always thought flowers are hard to paint as they have very subtle value changes. You have to squint and look hard to see them.

These surf fisher people were hauling in the fish! It was fun playing with all the colors in the water. It seems the fellow in the red shirt is always lurking somewhere in my beach scene paintings...wonder who he is!

I've been having a technology headache, printers breaking, Internet down and I spent most of a day making a new page on my blog with larger paintings. It looked good for a while then half my images just disappeared. HELP!! I could hardly bear to turn on the computer today.

THREE SURF FISHERMEN

This is one of my favorite paintings that I did a while back. They are fishing at the pass on west beach in Gulf Shores. It is a favorite spot for fishing as this is where the ocean flows into the lagoon. Although it looks very placid, these waters have dangerously swift currents.

PLUMS WITH KNIFE

I am wondering why I put the knife in there...I've never peeled a plum. This knife did not have a shadow at all. I went back to my computer to look at the original reference photo and.... no shadow. I am so used to putting in the shadows to ground an object, so I almost just made one up but decided to leave it as it was.

I have this shrub rose in my front yard. I love them because they are white, pink and coral.

I painted this one from life and it started wilting before my very eyes. They must be called old fashioned crepe roses because they look like crepe in a very short time! It was completely shriveled the next day but the bud was in full bloom.
