I really enjoyed painting and visiting with other artist at the Foley Performing Art Center today. Painting these flowers was a real challenge as the photo I used did not have any interesting dark shapes. That's my excuse anyway, and I am sticking with it!

VAST PACIFIC SHORE

I did this painting from one of the the photos I took from the deck at the Lincoln City, Oregon Beach house. The people walking the beach looked tiny, adding to the immensity of the Pacific Ocean.
This is a small painting, so depicting the tiny figures was best achieved by painting the gesture and loosely popping on a few lights.

This cafe is in Otis, Oregon, a little town on the Oregon coast. They have been serving great breakfast and lunches for about 70 years or so I am told. The country fried steak breakfast I had was delicious and enough to serve four or five people! Also, this was where Otis the cat was found when he was an itty bitty kitty.

This is the first pelican I have painted. I had to look hard to find some interesting colors in this bird...I added a few to zip it up a bit. There must have been a hundred pelicans out by the Fairhope, Alabama pier diving for tasty morsels.

Tomorrow from 5 to 6:30, The Foley Performing Arts Center is having an opening for its new co-op gallery and Friday night, the Fairhope Artist Gallery (6 -8) is having a 'meet the artist' reception for Art Walk. Stop by and see me if you are in the area.
