Isn't she a cutie!  This is the kind of casual portrait I like to paint.  Painting very loosly, I applied thick layers of paint with a palette knife.

The blues on these little birds are so rich!  This one, I photographed at the bird banding in Fort Morgan a while back   He was actually being held by his little feet by one of the bird experts,  so I had to use my imagination for the feet and foliage
