Beautiful  spring day in Gulf Shores this morning.  A nice change from the wet cloudy days we have had..  The  birds are  flitting around, building their nest, it is hard to believe that the end of cool weather is at hand..
This week, did not paint much as my sister has had some severe health problems and I have been taking care of her.  Please say a prayer for her!

I did a lot of playing on this figurative beach scene of a little girl...and it was pretty quick except for the face.  As it is back-lit,and there were only two values in the face and the description had to be done with soft,same value, color changes.   LOL at the yellow polka dot right smack in the middle of the painting!

This figurative oil beach scene  was the second demonstration I painted for the Foley workshop.  I warned everyone that the fore-shortening of the legs would not be an easy task, but they were all ready  for the challenge.  I wanted to keep the painting loose and fresh still using some of those lively grays.

PINK FLOWERS WITH A SIMPLE WELCOME

This floral still life is the one hour demo I painted for my workshop yesterday.  In this painting, I wanted to show how grays can really be lively and pop your colors, too.  Wow, did I ever have a bunch of hard working artists...they were at the easel painting  a half hour early and through most of the lunch hour!  We had a lot of fun and hopefully learned a few things, too...  Remember..squint, put those darks in and work on the entire canvas!!

This is the first demo I painted in the  workshop this week.  I still see a couple of little things to change.  Also I am thinking this still life  setup might be interesting with a white cloth behind it... a little more dramatic, although  I  am pretty happy with the blues.

The art center in Fairhope has wonderful studios and I had a really fabulous bunch of artists  to work with.

There may still be an opening in the Foley workshop next week so give them a call,  as it will be my last one for a while.
